Our Story

In the remote village of Shivpur in rural Maharashtra, over 500 children wake up every morning with dreams of education but no school to attend. These bright young minds walk miles to the nearest town, often dropping out due to distance and financial constraints.

The Challenge

Currently, these children study under trees or in makeshift tents. During monsoons, classes are suspended for months. The literacy rate in this area is below 40%, perpetuating the cycle of poverty.

Rise Above Poverty, a registered NGO (Registration No: MH/2015/0123456) is committed to changing this reality. We're building a fully-equipped school with modern facilities that will serve over 500 children from underprivileged backgrounds.

Construction Progress

How will my donation be used?

Your donation directly funds the construction of the school building, purchase of educational materials, teacher salaries, and nutritious meals for students. We maintain complete transparency with quarterly reports showing exactly how funds are utilized. 100% of your donation goes to the project, with administrative costs covered separately by our organization's general fund.

Is my donation eligible for tax deduction?

Yes! Rise Above Poverty is registered under Section 12A and holds 80G certification from the Income Tax Department of India. All donations are eligible for 50% tax deduction under Section 80G. You'll receive a tax receipt via email immediately after your donation with all necessary details for claiming the deduction.

Can I visit the school once it's built?

Absolutely! We encourage all our donors to visit and see the impact of their contributions firsthand. We organize quarterly site visits for donors and supporters. You can also attend our annual celebration events. Contact us at visit@riseabovepoverty.org to schedule your visit, and we'll arrange transportation from Mumbai if needed.

How do you select students for the school?

We prioritize children from families below the poverty line (BPL) who have limited or no access to education. Our selection process includes community surveys, family income verification, and needs assessment. We work closely with the local gram panchayat and village leaders to identify children who need help most. Admission is completely free, and no child is turned away due to financial constraints.

When will the school be operational?

We're targeting to complete construction by May 2024 and open the school for the academic year starting in June 2024. With adequate funding, we can even accelerate this timeline. We'll keep all donors updated through regular email newsletters and SMS updates about the construction progress and inauguration date.

Can I set up a monthly recurring donation?

Yes! Monthly recurring donations help us plan better and ensure sustainable operations for the school even after construction. You can set up automatic monthly donations through UPI AutoPay, credit/debit card, or net banking. You can cancel, pause, or modify your recurring donation at any time through your donor dashboard. Monthly donors receive exclusive quarterly impact reports and invitations to special events.
